- This is the highly sought Intel 855gm graphics driver (found on many not too old laptops of various manufacturers yet they, as well as Intel, claim there is no support nor a graphics drivers for Vista and Windows 7.
- Here's what worked for me. I have a DELL D505 with Intel 852/855 video chipset. I loaded Windows 7 and could not get the video drivers to install. I tried every way possible from Windows, Intel, and Dell websites. Finally from the DELL website, I downloaded the Intel Extreme Graphics 855 GM driver utility to my Desktop for easy access.

It’s not an ideal solution as you have to have a working Vista installation to extract the driver from and is probably totally unsupported, this is essentially Windows 7 running a Vista video driver – but it’s a beta anyway, hopefully MS or Intel will ship an 855GM driver again when Windows 7 goes RTM. Note: Intel has not validated XPDM graphics drivers on the Windows. 7 operating system. See Where can I download Intel graphics drivers that support the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system? This applies to Intel® Series Express Chipsets: 945, 946, 965, 3, or 4.

The drivers released by Intel for Windows XP are incompatible with Windows 7. While there is compatibility for this device in Windows Vista, attempting to install these drivers in Windows 7 Beta 1 or alpha builds will result in a black screen on reboot. This can be solved by hard powering the system down and rebooting it, you will then be using the compatibility driver from Microsoft once again.
For compatibility Windows 7 uses the Standard VGA Adapter with a max screen resolution of 1200x1024. If the BIOS setting is correct, the system will stretch the screen automatically to compensate for this but you still will not have the ability to use higher wide screen resolutions.
It is unlikely Dell or Intel will release a fix for this problem, since the 700M Laptop is old by today's standards. The driver was probably using the Windows XP Display Driver Model (XPDM) and not WDDM (Vista) anyway.

Hi,
I just installed Windows 7 on my Fujitsu T4010D tablet and was pretty surprised most of my hardware was detected right off the bat (wireless worked on first boot)...unfortunately, the current video driver is simply the Standard VGA adapter driver, rather than the Intel chipset...this means that the computer cant go into portrait mode whenever I want to take notes...anyone know of a solution for this? Ive downloaded drivers directly from intel but none of them seem to be compatible with Windows 7 and none of them work...
Thanks in advance,
Ahslan
